New Delhi[India], Oct. 21: Saurabh Sharma, ABVP activist and former joint secretary of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU), on Friday alleged that Najeeb Ahmed, who went missing since Saturday following a brawl the night before, is hiding in the campus and accused the Left ideologues of giving him protection.
Sharma also alleged that the followers of Left ideology are trying to give a communal angle to this case.
"Najeeb Ahmed's issue has been politicised as they just want to hog the limelight," he said. "According to me, Left ideologues have captured him because when we were searching for Anirban and Umar after February 9 then they were found inside the campus only," Sharma told ANI.
"I want to add that these Leftists are giving communal colour to this case which is unfortunate," Sharma added.
He also welcomed the Union Home Ministry's move to set committee on this issue. The mysterious disappearance of a first year JNU MSc student has been in the news for two days now. It has been over six days since twenty-seven-year-old Najeeb Ahmed went missing. No one knows of his whereabouts and now the JNU campus walls are flooded with posters with a reward of Rs 50,000 to anybody providing information of his whereabouts.
Najeeb was involved in a brawl with his college mates. Vikrant Kumar, an ABVP worker who was contesting elections, was campaigning in the hostel and a scuffle broke out between the duo after which a group of boys allegedly beat up Najeeb.
Soon after this, Najeeb left all his belongings in his hostel room and mysteriously disappeared..
