K.P. Yohannan-led Believers Church organises free medical camps

New Delhi [India], Oct.24 (ANI-Newsvoir): As Dengue and Chikungunya continue to affect people across northern India, Believers Church has started a campaign to educate economically weaker sections of the society about the disease and ways to prevent it.

The drive was kicked off with a free Medical camp for the local community at Bharat Vihar, Gurugram. Believers Church Medical Camp for Dengue and Chikungunya awareness Gurugram The camp aims to reach over 2,00,000 people of which 500 people have been reached out to in this phase of the camp.

The camp is aimed at generating awareness amongst women and children below 15 years of age. The medical camp was led by Dr. Puja Mathurand Dr. Vicky who elaborated on the ways to prevent falling prey to these diseases. Believers Church Medical Camp for Dengue and Chikungunya awareness Gurugram BJP councilor Ms. Sashi Tomar who presided over the event said, "We greatly appreciate the work being done by Believers Church under the leadership of Metropolitan Dr.

K.P Yohannan. While the corporations are doing their best to tackle the menace of these diseases, such participation from the civil society and non-governmental bodies adds great momentum to our efforts of countering these diseases." While addressing the gathering, Bishop Dr.

Simon John of Believers Church said, "While there is still awareness amongst the privileged classes, it is the underprivileged who need awareness as well as medical attention during times of an outbreak.

We will replicate these camps across northern India and reach out to the grass-root level people to prevent further outbreak." Father Jagan Mohan Rao, Dn.

Simiyon Nayak, Dn. Dhiraj Naik, Dn. Meshak Philip and Br. Josaf Daniel were also present at the camp. Metropolitan of Believers Church Dr. K.P. Yohannan while speaking about the initiative called it an "essential and pragmatic solution to the problem." "Every year we distribute mosquito nets and conduct such camps during the mosquito breeding season.

This is the least we can do to assist government and prevent this outbreak from becoming an epidemic", he added.

Believers Church executes various initiatives across India in the field of Health and Hygiene. The Church also has two hospitals and one medical college which caters to over 1000 patients every day.

The church also organizes medical camps throughout the nation to provide medical care to over 100000 people every year.
