Johannesburg [South Africa], Sept 13 : India head coach Anil Kumble has lavished praise on Virat Kohli, saying that he was impressed by the professionalism displayed by the Test captain over the past few years.
The 27-year-old masterfully led his side to a resounding 2-0 series win on the Caribbean soil, scoring an exuberant 283-ball 200, his 12th Test century, in the opening Test in Antigua.
Having watched Kohli's progress from afar in recent years, the former Indian leg-spinner admitted that he has been blown away by the dedication of the star batsman.
Acknowledging the batting prodigy's maturity, Kumble described Kohli's performance on the Caribbean tour as 'brilliant', Sport24 reported.
The coach was equally effusive in his praise for Ravichandran Ashwin, saying that the spin bowling-all-rounder seized the opportunity to play up the order by scoring two scintillating centuries.
Apart from those two tons, the No.3 ranked Test bowler also bagged series-leading 17 wickets, propelling him to second spot in the Test all-rounder rankings.
