Washington D.C. [United States], Dec. 6 : Special Assistant to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for Foreign Affairs, Tariq Fatemi has said that Islamabad is looking forward to work closely with Trump administration to further enhance its bilateral relations with the United States.
"Once President-elect Donald Trump assumes his office, Pakistan is looking forward to meaningful engagement with USA in further improving bilateral relations and playing its role in the context of regional and international issues," Geo News quoted Fatemi as saying at the Pakistani embassy.
He informed the media that he was visiting the country to have discussions with the current U.S. administration and to meet the officials who are likely to join Trump administration. Fatemi said that an instrumental role can be played by Pakistan role in promoting peace not only in Afghanistan but in the entire region.
Asserting that Pakistan has lost more five thousand army men in a ruthless war against terrorism, Fatemi said that Islamabad is committed to put an end to terrorism and more than 200,000 troops have been deployed by them in its Northern Areas and along Pak-Afghan border to burst terrorists networks and demolishing their hideouts.
He also emphasized on a need to resolve the long-standing issue of Kashmir between India and Pakistan through a dialogue between the two sides.
