Mumbai, June 17 : Amid the growing number of Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra, a heartening development is the number of active cases has gone down consecutively for the past two days, officials said here on Wednesday.
As on date, of the total 113,445 Covid-19 cases in the state, there are currently 50,055 active cases, while 57,851 have been cured and discharged.
Another 5,537, besides 13 from other states, have succumbed to the virus which first appeared in the state on March 9, and claimed its first victim in Mumbai 90 days ago on March 17.
"Of the current Covid-19 patient count of 113,445 in Maharashtra, as many as 57,851 have recovered and left hospitals," said Health Minister Rajesh Tope.
The state's recovery rate stands at an impressive 50.99 percent while the mortality rate stands at 4.08 percent.
On Monday too, the state recorded 50,554 active cases, compared to the total 56,049 who recovered, besides 4,128 fatalities.
Meanwhile, there are 80,502 beds available in 1,543 quarantine institutions across the state, and more beds are being added almost every week along with ICU facilities, said the officials.
