New Delhi [India], April 1 : Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Sri Mohd. Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak on Saturday called upon President Pranab Mukherjee as the two nations celebrate 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
President Mukerjee during the meeting said relations between India and Malaysia are centuries old and is best ever so far, according to a statement.
The statement added that the two countries have taken their strategic partnership forward, particularly after the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Malaysia in November 2015.
The President said commercial and investment relations have become the mainstay of India-Malaysia relations while stating that there is also considerable potential for collaboration in defence production especially under the Make in India initiative.
He also thanked Malaysia for the close cooperation on counter-terrorism issues. On his part, the Malaysian Prime Minister said bilateral relations between India and Malaysia is multi-dimensional and that Malaysia would like to achieve target of USD 15 billion bilateral trade by 2020.
