London [UK], July 6 : Manchester United had agreed a deal to sign Everton striker Romelu Lukaku for a fee of 75 million pound.
The Reds are confident of pushing through the deal before the weekend so that Lukaku can fly out with the rest of the team to the United States on Sunday.
The 24-year-old Belgium striker scored 25 goals last season in the Premier League. He will be United's second summer signing after the arrival of Benfica's Swedish centre-back Victor Lindelof for 31 million pound, reports the Guardian.
The move, if pushed through, can be a massive blow for the Blues whose manager, Antonio Conte, had identified Lukaku early on as his main reinforcement up front.
As per reports, Conte has spoken to Lukaku over recent weeks. The Belgian has become one of the Premier League's most prolific strikers in his three seasons at Goodison Park, scoring 71 goals in 133 games.
The Premier League champions were keeping close tabs on Andrea Belotti earlier this summer and supporters are keen for Antonio Conte to step up his interest in the Torino hitman once again.
