New Delhi [India], Oct. 20 : Singer and Bharatiya Janata Party MP Babul Supriyo accompanied the President of Producers Guild, Mukesh Bhatt and Apoorva Mehta from Dharma Productions and met the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday to discuss the smooth release of the Karan Johar-directed Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and condemned the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) for taking the law into their own hands by vandalizing multiplexes.
Addressing the media before the meeting, Babul Suprio said, "It's a simple law and order case. It is a national release so they wish to meet the Home Minister and it is very gracious of Rajnath Singh ji to give us time.
I think MNS should not have the right, power and the audacity to say that they are going to break multiplexes and take law in their own hands." "They have always been a party of goons, they have harassed couples on Valentine's Day, broken card shops and all that, so no one is allowed to take law and order in their own hands," he added.
He added that the audience is the decision maker, not MNS which is planning to break multiplexes, "Let the audience decide what to do," he said.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil featuring Fawad Khan in a cameo role ran into trouble after MNS said they won't let any movie featuring Pakistani artistes release in India.
To reduce opposition over the release of his directorial venture, Filmmaker Karan Johar had made a fervent appeal against stalling the release, saying he will not engage with Pakistani talent in future.
MNS continued their protests as the party rejected Johar's statement that he will not "engage with talent" from Pakistan in future.
The Maharashtra government has, however, assured protection to cinemas where the film will be screened from Diwali weekend.
