Naoseena Hatolkar, a blind student, who participated in the musical programme said, "Today, is the first day of Diwali and our school celebrated Diwali for the first time.
So, I am really happy. We did not burst crackers, but celebrated Diwali through songs and music. I am thankful to my friends for singing and playing instruments along with me. All my family members are present except for my father." Students and teachers were of the view that celebrating a cracker-free Diwali is a mark of respect for soldiers guarding India's borders and to create awareness about the need to stop degrading the environment.
