Mumbai Test: Murali strikes fifty as India reach 146-1 at stumps on Day 2

Mumbai [India], Dec.9 : Opener Murali Vijay struck a scorching half-century as India reached 146 for the loss of one wicket at stumps on the second day of the fourth Test against England at the Wankhede Stadium here on Friday.

In reply to England's first innings score of 400, India lost opener KL Rahul for mere 24 runs off Moeen Ali's delivery.

Opener Vijay (unbeaten at 70) then joined forces with Cheteshwar Pujara (unbeaten at 47) to share a strong 107-run stand for second wicket.

In spite of a strong start, India still trail by 254 runs from first innings at the end of the day. Earlier, resuming at an overnight score of 288-5, Jos Buttler struck 76 runs while Jake Ball chipped in with 31 runs before England were bundled out at exactly 400.

Ravichandran Ashwin picked up his 23rd five-wicket haul in Test cricket as he finished with the figures of six for 112 while Ravindra Jadeja scalped four wickets.
