New Delhi [India], Mar.30 : Mr. Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Oman's Foreign Minister, will undertake an official visit to India on April 2-3, 2017 at the invitation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
India's close and friendly relations with Oman are based on historical people to people contacts and are marked by regular exchange of high-level bilateral visits.
Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah had earlier visited India in February and June 2014. Minister Swaraj had paid a return visit to Oman on February 17-18, 2015. Oman is an important trading partner of India in the Gulf region with bilateral trade exceeding USD 3.86 billion in 2015-16.
The contribution of over 688,000 strong Indian community in the progress and development of Oman is well acknowledged and appreciated.
During the forthcoming visit, the two sides would discuss bilateral, regional and other issues of mutual interest.
