New Delhi, Dec 2 : Opposition members in the Lok Sabha led by the Congress on Monday raised the gang-rape and murder of a young woman veterinary doctor in Hyderabad with Speaker Om Birla advising them to take up the matter in Zero Hour.
Soon after the House assembled for the day, several opposition members were on their feet seeking permission from Birla to raise the issue.
The Lok Sabha Speaker said the House is also concerned about the incident and that he would allow lawmakers to raise the issue after the Question Hour.
The gruesome rape and murder of the 27-year-old woman has evoked protests across the country with people demanding harsh punishment for the perpetrators.
