New Delhi, Aug.2 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday exhorted the2014 batch IAS officers to be frank and fearless during their interaction with superiors.
The Prime Minister today held an interactive session with 172 newly-inducted IAS officers, who started their career yesterday as Assistant Secretaries in 48 departments of the central government.
"Do not be overawed by hierarchy. Be frank and fearless in your interaction with senior officers during the next three month," Prime Minister Modi told the officers.
He said that the young officers should not only add value to their own skill-sets, but also attempt to add value to the department they are working for.
"You should remain sensitive to circumstances and surroundings, in order to be able to better connect with the people of India," he added.
This is the second batch of IAS officers to have their first stint in the Central Government instead in their respective cadre states.
Last year, as many as 158 IAS officers of 2013 batch were appointed as Assistant Secretaries in different ministries as part of a first-of-its-kind initiative by the Union government to groom bureaucrats at the Centre before they move out to their respective state cadres.
