Amritsar (Punjab) [India], Nov. 7 : The Punjab Government on Monday announced Rs. five lakh ex-gratia and government job to one family member of slain soldier Gursewak Singh, who was killed yesterday in Pakistani firing across the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
Singh was cremated today with full military honours at his village of Warana in Taran Tarn district of Punjab.
On Sunday, an Indian soldier was killed and two others suffered injuries during the ceasefire violations in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.
The Indian Armed Forces aptly retaliated to the heavy firing initiated by the Pakistani Rangers. Earlier today, the Pakistan Army violated ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing in Mendhar Sector, Jammu and Kashmir, to which the Indian troops gave a befitting reply.
This is the 101st incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistan, following India's surgical strike across the Line of Control (LoC) on September 29.
No casualties have been reported on the Indian side till last reports came in..
