Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India] Oct 1 : On the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr.
Raman Singh on Sunday talked to the beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojna (Chief Minister Pilgrimage Scheme) and took their feedback.
He called a Muslim women beneficiary and asked about experience of her pilgrimage to the Ajmer Sharif Shrine.
She thanked the Chief Minister for helping her out to pay obeisance at Ajmer Sharif shrine. He then called one Munna Lal, who had undertaken pilgrimage of Baba Baidyanath Dham in Jharkhand under the scheme with his wife and other senior citizens of his village.
Munna Lal thanked the Chief Minister and informed that they didn't face any difficulty during the pilgrimage.
Raj Rani Kaur, who had gone to pay obeisance at Patna Sahib Gurudwara in Bihar, told the Chief Minister that her pilgrimage was hassle free.
She also wished that the Chief Minister should excel in his life and return to power in the next elections.
The Chief Minister then called one Ram Lakhan Thakur, who had also undertaken Baba Baidyanath Pilgrimage.
Thakur was so happy with the arrangements made by the Chhattisgarh government that he made the Chief Minister to listen two songs that he had penned to praise the Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojna.
Talking to ANI, Dr. Raman said, "I extend my heartiest best wishes to the senior citizens on the occasion of the International Day of Oder Persons and pray for their long life and good health." He further added: "The state government is running many schemes for the welfare of the senior citizens and Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojna is one of them.
Today, I talked to many beneficiaries of this scheme and happy that they are being benefitted by it." The scheme has been launched to provide financial help to the senior citizens of Chhattisgarh an opportunity once in their lifetime to undertake one or more pilgrimages outside the state, which are recognised by the state government.
The eligibility criteria of the scheme are: applicant should be the domicile of Chhattisgarh, should have attained age of 60 years or more, shouldn't have undertaken the pilgrimage under the scheme before, and must be mentally and physically fit.
The opportunity is being provided to the senior citizens as per the government's target through a lottery system.
