Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Aug 6 : Ace Indian marksman Jitu Rai failed to continue his spirited display as he finished in eighth position in the final of the 10m air pistol men's event here at the Rio Olympics on Saturday.
The 25-year-old armyman, who is considered as India's biggest medal hope in shooting, finished with a final score of 78.7.
Vietnam's Hoang Xuan Vinh clinched the gold medal with a score of 202.5, while Brazilian shooter Felipe Almeida Wu (202.1) and Pang Wei (180.4) settled for silver and bronze respectively.
Earlier in the qualifying round, Jitu produced a resilient performance to reach the finals with an overall score of 580/600.
However, Jitu still has a medal hope as he will next contest in the 50m Air Pistol on Wednesday..
