New Delhi [India], Nov. 10 : State Bank of India (SBI) chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya on Thursday welcomed the government's decision to scrap Rs.
500 and Rs. 1,000 currency notes and said that the banks would provide full support to the customers. "It is a good decision taken by the government. We are providing full support to the customers and have advised the same to every branch. Our banks have been given responsibilities which we are trying to handle. A slip with account details and signature will have to be filled. Any measure of amount can be put in an account. At once, an amount of Rs. 10,000 can be taken from the cash counter," Bhattacharya told ANI. "Customers can withdraw Rs. 4000 from the ATMs and can deposit any amount in the banks," she added. The banks were closed yesterday to realign and reload new Rs. 500 and Rs. 2,000 currency notes. However, the banks are today open to ensure that the customers do not have any problems in exchanging Rs.
500 and Rs. 1,000 notes..
