New Delhi [India], May 11 : United States President Donald Trump has slammed the Democrats for criticising his firing of FBI director James Comey, accusing them of "pretending to be aggrieved" and "hypocrisy." Trump took to Twitter to blast the Democrats and said, "Dems have been complaining for months (and) months about Dir.

Comey," Trump wrote in a tweet. "Now that he has been fired they PRETEND to be aggrieved. Phony hypocrites!" The Democrats have raised concerns about the "timing" of the sudden termination of Comey.

"It is essential that we find new leadership for the FBI that restores public trust and confidence in its vital law enforcement mission," the letter added.

"I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours." The sudden move invoked diverse, and sharp, reactions, mostly high profile from the U.S.

However, Trump's controversial move found some support from Republicans even as more Democrat senators expressed disquiet over the sacking of Comey.
