Trump labels recent threats against Jewish community ‘horrible’

Washington D.C. [USA], Feb. 22 : U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday condemned the recent spate of threats targeting the Jewish community in the country as "horrible and painful".

"The anti-Semitic threats targeting our Jewish community and community centers are horrible and are painful, and a very sad reminder of the work that still must be done to root out hate and prejudice and evil," said Trump while visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

"This tour was a meaningful reminder of why we have to fight bigotry, intolerance and hatred in all of its very ugly forms," the President added.

His remarks come after pressure to speak out against anti-Semitism amid several recent episodes, including bomb threats made on Monday against 11 Jewish community centers.

Recently, vandals also toppled and damaged about 100 headstones at the historic Jewish cemetery of St.

Louis area's Chesed Shel Emeth Society last week, reports the CNN. On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton also called on Trump and others to "speak out" against the attacks. "JCC threats, cemetery desecration (and) online attacks are so troubling (and) they need to be stopped.

Everyone must speak out, starting w/ @POTUS," she tweeted..
