Trump urges Congress to repeal Obamacare

Washington D.C.[USA], March 1: Addressing his first joint session of Congress, President Donald Trump has urged them to replace and repeal Obamacare with reforms to expand choice, increase access, lower cost and, at the same time, provide better health care.

"I'm also calling on this Congress to repeal and replace Obamacare with reforms that expand choice, increase access, lower cost and, at the same time, provide better health care," Trump said.

Trump asserted that mandating every American to pay government-approved health insurance was never the right solution for America.

"The way to make health insurance available to everyone is to lower the cost of health insurance, and that's what we'll do," he added.

Trump on his first day in the Oval Office had signed an executive order declaring that the official policy of his administration will be "to seek the prompt repeal" of Obamacare.

The executive order directed the secretary of health and human services and the heads of other agencies to use their discretion to help individuals, health care providers, insurers and others avoid any burdens stemming from the Affordable Care Act, which remains in effect.
