Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Feb. 24 : The Shiv Sena on Friday thanked the people of Maharashtra for showing faith in the party during the recent held Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation BMC polls.
"We thank the people of Mumbai and Maharashtra for once again showing faith in us. Though people tried to bring in an anti-incumbency factor, but it did not work. People have entrusted their faith for the fifth time in the Shiv Sena," said party spokesperson Manisha Kayande.
Kayande asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has always done their best during elections and no one can throw them out.
"Hence, what I can say at this point is that the BJP is trying its level best to defeat all regional parties.
Not only defeat them, but throw them out of the political system in India. But that can be stopped only by honorable Uddhav ji Thackeray who has stopped the BJP at the border of Maharashtra even in the 2014 election.
The BJP could not get a single handed majority in the civic polls except Nagpur and few other places. So, once again people have shown their faith in the Shiv Sena and in the leadership of Uddhav ji Thackeray.
He has emerged as a strong modern Hindu leader with a sense of vision for development," said Kayande. The BJP won 82 of the council's 227 seats and eight out of the ten major municipalities, while the Shiv Sena at 84 is marginally ahead.
None of the parties could get near the majority mark of 114..
