Johannesburg, Aug.2 : Winning Grand Slam titles are more important than an Olympic Games medal, according to world number two Angelique Kerber.
The 28-year-old will represent Germany in women's singles event and in women's doubles event alongside Andrea Petkovic in the Summer Games, which starts from Friday.
Kerber, who was speaking days after her semi-final exit at the hands of Simona Halep in Montreal, however, insisted that she would try her level best to clinch a medal for her country.
The Australian Open champion admitted that it is an honour for her to compete at the Olympics for a second time and, therefore, she is looking forward to play her best tennis,Sport24 reported.
Kerber reached the quarter-finals of the women's singles event at the 2012 London Games before losing to bronze medallist Victoria Azarenka.
